Biomedical drugs or biological drugs: Medicines taken from biological sources. Vaccines, blood and its products, somatic cells, allergens, biological tissues and recombinant proteins are the most well-known types of biochemicals.
These types of drugs that are distinct from chemical synthesized drugs are based on the protein derived from living cells cultured in the lab. Biomedicals enter the body by injection or intravenous (IV). With the advent of modern and up-to-date molecular biologic techniques, their use in medicine has grown tremendously over the past ten years, although biomedicine has been used to treat the disease for over 100 years.
Biologics are different from traditional systemic drugs that affect the entire immune system, biologists target specific parts of the body’s immune system.
